Medacta Shoulder System Update

As previously announced, Medacta is expanding into the shoulder arthroplasty market with the recent FDA clearance of the Anatomic Shoulder Prosthesis. The Medacta Shoulder System is a modular solution that features a broad range of options, including wide-ranging sizes, adjustable offset, innovative configurations and the CT-based MyShoulder 3D preoperative planning solution for patient-specific humeral and glenoid guides.

The Reverse Shoulder is pending FDA clearance and is not available for clinical use.

Designed by a group of expert surgeons from the United States, Europe, and Australia, the Medacta Shoulder System will also offer the flexibility to move from a total to reverse arthroplasty without the need to revise all components. The Medacta Shoulder System-Anatomic prosthesis includes the following components:

  • Cementless humeral stems available in 11 sizes
  • Anatomic humeral necks available in 128°, 135°, and 142°.
  • Adjustable head eccentricity (0mm to 5mm)
  • Anatomic humeral head available in 10 sizes
  • Highly crosslinked, cemented, and pegged glenoid component

FDA clearance for the Reverse option is expected soon. Medacta is planning a full U.S. market release in mid-2018.
